Scholarship

There is a new nursing program in Newport, OR at Oregon Coast Community College.  Renegade nurses wanted to be supportive and by doing so... we've created a scholarship.  Since, we are happily working toward retirement this works perfectly for replacing ourselves!

We are proud to announce that Brietta Cross was the first student chosen via an essay for the a grand total of $1,500 for our first  scholarship award. We hope to keep you updated on her experiences she will be encountering during her next few semesters!

We now have a second scholarship winner - Katherine Miller of Waldport.

Here are Katherine's winning thoughts on what it means to be a Renegade Nurse:

Being a renegade means to look at other ways of seeing and doing things in hopes that there might be a better way.

It means to speak out when something doesn't sit right in my gut.

It means choosing my battles so that I am not seen as a whiner.

It means assuring that my patients are heard and respected.

It means to rebel when disrespectful behaviors are witnessed.

It means being a virtuous nurse.

To qualify for the Scholarship, applicants must:

- Be accepted into the OCCC Nursing Program.
